| No to Tudor. I put him and Jonah in the same category, excellent players when fit but times catching up with them fast _________________ I am an architect, they call me a butcher I am a pioneer, they call me primitive

| Trying to find an o/s guy who ticks all the right boxes is tricky but I might have a solution. The Aussies tour here next June for 5 ODI's and 2 Tests against Pakistan in July. So we could have an Aussie player April-June. We can't afford Ponting and other 'big' names so a borderline player is required. Plus a bit of experience of playing in England is required. He must be fit and healthy. We can talk about keepers and batsmen but at the end of the day we need 20 wickets to win a match and our bowling is still a bit inexperienced. Plus we have no variety - a left arm quickie is required (Shantry is too slow) especially as the ball will nip around early season. I'm sure you'll all agree that this is perfectly logical and so we should search for this player and come up with some names. Unfortunately, Mitchell Johnson seems to have lost the plot, so we must look elsewhere. Then, for the second half of the season we could switch to a spinner. Hauritz might be a good shout after the Pakistan series. |

| Could it be that by giving Moeen a bigger role with the ball he will be less worried about batting and he will be in a more relaxed state of mind when he bats and therefore will achieve more? |

| I'm not going to mention any names chaps. Just merely looking at the profile of a player who might suit us and might be available. |

| Matt Machan has become the second 18 year old left handed batsman to be promoted from our Academy in the last week. Machan has been offered a 2 year Junior Pro contract and is the first Sussex player to be offered such a contract. |

| So Brown from Gloucester has signed for Glamorgan. He was one who I thought Bumpy may have been after. |

The fact that he went to Glamorgan speaks volumes - no loss methinks. |

| I was not inferring that Brown is a good player worth going after, it's just that he is the sort of plodding average county pro who Bumpy does tend to sign. See Richardson. |

| I hope not and I can't see for the life of me why we are interested in Monty! He would cost a fortune and doesn't guarantee us wickets. In fact he took fewer wickets than our main spinner Rayner last season. We have lost Tom Smith but he left Sussex because he couldn't get a game! With six spinners on the staff already (Rayner, Beer, Hamilton-Brown, Yardy, Nash and Wells) I can't see why we are after him. We need strike bowlers not another spinner! Unfortunately, I can't see him not joining Sussex as Northants can't afford him and nobody else wants him. Given this Sussex should be asking themselves why this is the case! As a signing he would add virtually nothing to the attack and would merely waste a great chunk of the playing budget still available. |
