If Kabby isn't going training with the squad then how does he expect to win anyone's respect, especially his team-mates. Maybe he isn't obliged to go but you'd thought he'd make an effort. And if he does want to leave then you'd think he'd want to be in the best shape possible to showcase himself.

When other clubs see that he can't be arsed to go the extra mile and volunteer to get fit they might find out more about the man, rather than the cricketer.

we are paying the others to train and not Kabby. I have no problem with his decision.

I thought we mostly agreed on another post some time ago that year-long contracts are daft and lead to the players being sick of the sight of each other be the time the season begins.

Normally, yes. But surely if the rest of the guys are working then he might feel a slight sense of guilt, or shame ?

Pockpock- yes, we did...but we are not the Management...

Member/Serchers- I go with Member. If Kabby were to train voluntarily, he would have no recourse to insurance should he get injured. He was no doubt asked to change his contractual terms to match the others and he refused to do so, as his right.

Until January, his status on the staff and on the Ground is no different to Serchers, or me, or a tea lady..in fact, the tea lady probably has better insurance as she dusts and polishes the Ladies Pavilion!

I hve no problem with his call about training etc. He is not under contract to do so, how many of us would go to work on our days off or during our leave- not me.

Still feel this story has time to turn a few more corners, not sure if Kabir will still be with us come April time anyhow

So, come the start of the 2010 season, Kabir will:

a) Be totally unfit compared to the rest of the squad

or b) Fresh and raring to go, not having spent all winter training

or c) injured again

or d) left

Where's your money?

c & d.

In the (very large) Hampshire treatment room.
