At least Geoff Cook has common sense. The ECB will try anything in it's shabby quest for cash.

Good! Proud that we can stop this madness of modernisation for its own sake firmly in its tracks!

Where has the honour and tradition of the MCC gone?

I've no objection in principle with the use of pink balls or orange balls or light-emitting balls in limited overs games in order to avoid the farcical situation of white balls having to be replaced because they've become discoloured.
I do however have a real problem with the ECB suggesting that we should particiapte in a trial in a CC game.
In 2010 we will presumably be using different balls in the CC anyway - another piece of ECB madness introduced this season.

I don't see that there was any harm in trialling the pink ball. It's not as if there was anything riding on the match, Durham were already champions and we were already relegated. I thought Cook's comments about the integrity of the game were a bit precious.

Surely they could be trialled in a second eleven match?

Last Monday was the final games of our season broadcast on Sky

They were the finals of the club 20 20

Bournemouth won by the way

They used the pink ball in these games, and very well it worked too I thought.
It swung a fair bit, though the day was humid.
Could see it really well on the telly, and there was no discolouration as seen by the white ball

More pink balls, and there's a Flintstone joke in there for anyone prepared to put some effort in.
