Does anybody know quite why Solanki is playing for the Lions?

I thought the same thing when the squad was announced.
As money is the only thing that matters to the ECB it's probably a case of picking the home players to bolster the gate. Foster should be in ahead of Davies and although Moore played really well his form this season did not justify his selection.

I'm sure if Kabir had been fit all season and producing the form he did at Durham he'd have been in as well.

Quite agree. Well done to Moore don't get me wrong but none of the Worcester boys should have been in with even a look in based on anything other than boosting the gate and saving money on travel expences!

Looking forward to it very much, sorting out the pack lunch later. Kids aiming to get some autographs and I can't wait to see the pavillion - which I have to say looks fantastic on TV. Will look out for you warrior/s.

Just got back from the match, good days cricket, lovely weather, plenty of interaction with the players (the reason I prefer tour to test matches).

First look at new pavillion, looks at little out of place but I guess we need to wait for the later redevelopment to see hot it all fits together. Inside it's very clinical looking (think Worcester Royal Hospital rather than Worcestershire Royals!) Also the size of the Lounge seems a little too large than is really needed and the bar a little smaller (as has been noted before), but I guess this is designed for activities other than cricket.

My lad really enjoyed himself and got most players autographs, fair dinkum' to most of the aussies who were happy to sign afterwards, a few snuck out through the back though, bonus on the way home when we saw Ricky Ponting going back to the hotel and he signed my lad's stuff then.

Busy until after lunch tomorrow but will probably try and get in sometime before tea when the prices are reduced, currently copping an earful from a ten year old who wants to complete his autograph sheets!

All autograph collectors don't forget the Sky Team !! Some good names in there. I managed to get Nasser to sign my copy of his autobiography on the first day Very Happy .

Whilst I envy anyone who's been to New Road for any of the four days, I don't
envy having to watch Denly bowl in a completely wasted hour of cricket.

The Counties used to get moaned at for fielding weaker teams, but it's ok for the
Aussies (and that matter England) to ignore the paying public and just use these
matches as batting exercises.

Shouldn't Englands 'A' bowlers be grabbing the ball off Denly, trying to push their
cause for a call up.

Noticed a schoolboy error from Harmie this morning saying in the press he didn't think
he'd be selected. Surely he should be shouting from the rooftops that he thinks he
should get a call.

Ah but GBH is well aware that no matter how well he or any of the other 'Lions' perform the side will be the XI who were playing at Edgbaston.

Had a great time at new Road, a perfect day. The pitch was a little flat and while I agree that it was a shame that Denly had to bowl I must give credit to Bell for trying something different. Solanki bowled as well.

This was a great family day out and my youngest's first ever match - he saw Brett Lee bowl but probably won't remember much as son is 22mths old Very Happy

Inside Information : expect Harmy and Onions to be named tomorrow. Not Bell, who looked completely miserable all day after his golden duck the other day.

Bell is probably still around the lists but the batting line up is fairly settled isn't it?

Great Day again, watching Brett Lee bowl is fantastic-he really still looks a class act. Great weather too- smaller crowd than I thought- especially from WCCC!

Harmy did nothing today that convinced me he should be in the side. Bell just wanted some red ink and got his just desserts.

That was the flatest pitch I've seen at New Road in a long while, but it says a lot about the paucity of the spin bowling on offer that no-one could make more of the footmarks at the Diglis End.

A good day out all-in-all.
