Solanki 6 off 2 balls, SR of 300. Is Davies really batting at 9 ?

Only Aussie bowler who looked dangerous in the slightest and to be fair his spell just before tea was excellent.

Lee bowled superbly in the afternoon. Nice ton by Moore but would have preferred the runs for us. Why are 100 or so seats at the New Road end reserved as an 'executive seating area'? I don't think one person sat in them all day. They surely get a seat in the balcony area (which was full all day) or is one seat not enough for their free-loading fat arses?

Just watched the highlights and it's fantastic to see our three guys playing in an England shirt. Moore played really well, although it looks as though he was LBW on 0. But he seems to be on a path to a full cap at some point, even possibly No 3 ? But it makes sense to have a left/right opening pair so he might have Cook looking over his shoulder soon. Point of interest : as Moore closed in on his ton, I think it was Bob Willis who said something about how everyone will remember a 100 and not a double figure score. The same applies to any T20 score, even Solanki's 100 the other day. Everyone will remember Moore getting a first class hundred against the Aussies and it really counts for something. Whereas a T20 100 is great but kindof meaningless because it's not serious cricket.

Does anybody know quite why Solanki is playing for the Lions? Unless the selectors have another Darren Pattinson moment, why would they call up a 33 year old for his test debut in the Ashes? I am all for Worcestershire players getting England recognition but does this not seem a little silly? Would it not have been better to give his place to another good young prospect and let Vikram to play against Durham?

I thought the same thing when the squad was announced. As money is the only thing that matters to the ECB it's probably a case of picking the home players to bolster the gate. Foster should be in ahead of Davies and although Moore played really well his form this season did not justify his selection.
I'm sure if Kabir had been fit all season and producing the form he did at Durham he'd have been in as well. |

I will probably pop down to NR today and grab a couple of tickets for Saturday. £10 each is a bargain, I did the same on Day 1. Just hope the weather holds.

I'm a Warwick fan who was at New Road yesterday doing some work for SPIN magazine which I'm involved in. Id just like to say I had by far my most enjoyable days's cricket of the season which, as I'd forgotten to bring my glasses so couldnt really see any cricket, was down to everyone at New Road. Its a beautiful ground and the helpfuilness of everyone - from your stewards to the people who allowed us to set up a stall to sell the magazine - was amazing. Your facilities for supporters are far better than anything we get as members at Edgbaston and the wholeday was a huge credit to the club. Thank you.

I, too, was at New Road yesterday and spent a very enjoyable day because the people around me (from Worcester, Bedford, Essex and elsewhere) were so friendly and the cricket - especially Steve Moore's innings, and Brett Lee's spell (though I hadn't realised he'd been reprimanded by the captain until I read it on Cricinfo's report) so impressive. But the Aussies' fielding left a great deal to be desired; I thought it was uncharacteristically sloppy at times! Was the beer in the pavilion £3.30 a pint? It was £2.80 last week!

You don't get the chance to meet and chat with people at T20. Cricket is supposed to be a social game. Talking of which >> I'll be at NR Saturday so if anyone else around shout up !
