Hmmm.

So the EPL will become the P20- knew that.

2 divisions of nine apiece- standings to be decided on placings in this year's 20/20 Cup- not the League.

But look at the detail of the Indian involvement....

If The ECB sell the TV rights to P20 to ZeeTV where does this leave Sky coverage?
Can we get ZeeTV on Sky platform?
Does anyone know what is going on?

Yeah, Zee Tv is on the darker reaches of Sky somewhere.
So this will basically end up like Setanta has for football? No doubt Zee want a tenner a month or so to watch it?

I Didn't realise how they were going to get the league teams sorted WBB.

There will be a lot of pointless cricket toward the middle and end of P40 then. P40 Div2 then means no promotion- Whats the point then?
In Div1 where we will play, If or When we cannot win the title- we light aswell play the kids- give them some experience, as the result of the game is NOT important.

ECB - YOU ARE A JOKE!!!

Good point, what is the point of the P40 this year then, especially for half the teams.
Also when Sky show it, they can't schedule too far ahead, imagine them screening the game between the 5th and 7th place teams in Div2, more dreary than a day at the concrete jungle watching the Bears Laughing

We have one 20/20 competition - THAT'S ALL WE NEED. End of.

Whilst not wishing to comment at length about the proposed structure of the P20, I can clear up the TV situation. Sky have all the rights to international and domestic cricket played in the UK and Ireland until 2013 (including the P20) for transmission in the UK and Ireland (or anywhere else you can actually get Sky). The key decision financially will be the sale of the overseas rights - essentially India. It is this decision which will ultimately decide on the number of overseas stars coming over and therefore, I guess, the overall profile of the competition.

By the way, would members of the Fans Forum like another get together early this season similar to last year - off the record of course?

I have set up a new thread for this so that members can indicate whether they would like such a meeting.

Caught the last bit of Trevor Owens interview with Mark Newton today, was very concerned to hear him talking about a possible reduction in the County Championship to 12 matches for 2010, to make room for the Champions League.
Mark was also saying that the balance between four day and one day cricket is too heavily weighted in favour of four day cricket and this is not what the younger generation want to watch.
I was already considering whether I would renew my membership next year, because of the loss of proper one day cricket and the lack of cricket at weekends, 12 Championship games would be the final straw.

I too was dismayed about the interview Wilf.

For the reasons you've given plus the ridiculous idea of only having 4 days
for tests.

Have found this report and audio link which includes part of the interview.

There are so many problems & issues I don't know where to start. So not going to bother now.

But the major problem is that there is no national forum for supporters to debate this, and we've got no bite. And I'm afraid that our own Chief Exec is only considering the financial side of things.

I'm a 'progressive traditionalist' if such a thing exists, there has to be balance somewhere and common sense must prevail. Most people like T20 - for what it is. But we sure as hell don't want 2 out of 4 tournaments to be T20.

Less 4 day cricket ? Just think of all those extra days for wedding receptions and moonlit cinema !
More 20/20 ? Just think, more rowdy morons at £ 3 a pint - can't wait !

What is this basis of the Newt's argument? Another round of surveys at 20-20 matches? I like 20-20 and really enjoyed the World Cup, but don't want it rammed down my throat.

I'm afraid the traditional supporter has little or no value to the modern cricket 'business' (can no longer use the word Club!).
