I really hope that the spirit (and ability) shown in the last few weeks of Championship and Pro40 cricket is carried into 2010, and that by this time next season we are praising several youngsters who have ...

Both Shantry and Jones are young enough to improve. On the batting side, Kidderminster Victoria has two batsmen who must surely be given contracts this year. Matt Pardoe has been a revelation with his run-scoring and can also bowl left arm medium and spin. Neil Pinner has had a quiet season, scoring just under 400 runs this season, but he did score 433,a tremendous effort from such a young player. Don't let either of these two escape!! He too can bowl spin.

The last Seconds match of the season- and the first I shall have tried to get to since May 2007...

Work commitments made attending last year impossible: but I do like to attend one Seconds day- at least- a season.

We play Northants. at Ombersley tomorrow[Wednesday], all been well. I've never been there- the one Seconds ground that we use that requires a car or immense faith in buses!

Hopefully I will not be the only Forum poster there- can people PM me if they are going?

Essex forum snippets of match at Barnt Green

Quote:Tues 25th - Lunch day 1 of friendly. Won toss and batted, 97-2 off 27 overs. Godleman out for 0. Grant 23 not out

Quote:Wed 26th - No play possible before lunch. Essex all out 212 from 74.5 overs, incl 28 extras. Worcestershire 65-3 at close of play.

Must be a pretty threadbare squad - don't know if Omar has three pears or three scimitars on his cap

I'd go for:

Strauss

Cook

Key

Ramprakash

Colllingwood

Prior

Flintoff

Broad

Swann

Anderson

Harmison

I though on Saturday afternoon, as a one off to try and win the Ashes, it would

be worth giving Ramps a go, an idea later voiced by several ex players including

Alec Stewart. Surely everyone would back him to score more than Bell or Bopara.

Although in the last Test i'd have only played 4 bowlers (not in hindsight), ...
